Paul Rosen

Disability

Paul suffered an injury playing Midget AAA hockey in 1975. After 23 surgeries, he was forced to have his right leg amputated above the knee, after getting an infection following knee replacement. Total or partial limb amputations occur because the affected limb is no longer functional, due to impairment caused by trauma, disease, infection or defect at birth. The level of amputation will depend on the location and severity of impairment. Most amputees can be fitted with a prosthetic leg, knee or ankle, placed over the remaining part of the amputated limb, known as the "stump".

According to Teammate Jean Labonté

“At 48, Rosey is still at the top of his game. Anyone who played against him knows how good he is, but also how fiercely he protects his crease and how risky it can be to venture in there. Remember Ron Hextall?”
