Mark Noot

Disability

Mark had both legs amputated above the knee after contracting meningitis in 1997. Total or partial limb amputations occur because the affected limb is no longer functional, due to impairment caused by trauma, disease, infection or defect at birth. The level of amputation will depend on the location and severity of impairment. Most amputees can be fitted with a prosthetic leg, knee or ankle, placed over the remaining part of the amputated limb, known as the ‘stump’.

According to Teammate Jean Labonté

“Even if he's usually very quiet, Mark a defenceman who can make his presence felt by throwing some solid hits and by playing a sound defensive game. He's not flashy and his name may not appear often on the scoresheet, but he's a critical part of the team nonetheless and he's definitely a team player. He's our Adam Foote … except ... he has no feet.”
