No idea man. I waver on this issue, but I prefer the get out the way of my shot mentality. It really throws me off. I'd rather blame myself if the puck goes in instead of a deflection cause a d-man decided to be a goalie without buying a set of pads.

Ok I am NOT a goalie, but I do play defense and when I played, we were told to let them shoot from the blueline or on the angles. Just clear the net so the goalie can see the puck. NOW it's block all the shots you can, IT"S out of control!!!!

Firstly, most players have no clue how to block a shot without getting hurt. I have never seen so many injuries and deflections causing so much pain and problems for goalies and their teams.

HELLO! Can someone tell me what is going on out there?

I coach now and play still, we were taught how to block a shot, it really isn't that tough, but yet i see NHL ers trying to block shots, that frankly cause nothing but chaos for a goalie.

Secondly, What is the purpose of having a goalie if you have no confidence in them to make a save from a blueline shot. I understand, force them out of lanes, but I can't count anymore how many goals are going in nets from deflections off of misplayed blocked shots.

Finally, can someone please look up stats, no no I will! Just how much man time is lost in the last 2 years from blocking shots, the figure i will bet is huge!!!!!
