It was a neat series. Production could have been better, but that's the student in me.
Besides that I have a greater respect for figure skating, and I already knew they were great skaters. It was cool to see how pro hockey players reacted and performed. Although it was funny that even though he practiced in figure skates, Domi never competed in them.
I would have liked to see Richer or Lemieux win, but Simpson won over the fans. Job well done by all.

Congratulations to Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson!!!
A very deserving award to them and their charity. From day one, Simpson took risks and wasn't afraid to land on his butt. On top of that, he still had to work every Saturday on HNIC and dealt with a bad back.
And so, season one of BOTB has come to an end. No idea what I'm going to do now every Sunday and Monday night, lol. Definitley looking forward to season two. I wonder who'll get next year. How about Jeremy Roenick?
Thanks to all who posted their thoughts. Please feel free to continue. What did you think of the finale? Who would you like to be part of the season two cast? |

Hmmmm......tough call. Lemieux/Bourne or Simpson/Sale? Both were outstanding and have taken this competition seriously since day one. On one hand, Simpson has amazing skill; on the other hand, Lemieux has this undescribable elegance and sauveness about him. Can't count out Richer/Dubai either.
I'll place my vote and like everyone else, will find out who wins on Monday.
They did a really nice highlite package about Maple Leaf Gardens. It was also nice to see the previous compeitiors on the ice again. But my favourite moment was when Claude called out guest-judge Doug Gilmour.

Oh boy! We had some drama go down at Maple Leaf Gardens tonight. Stephane Richer's partner, Marie-France Dubreuil, sustained a severe back injury earlier in the day and was unable to go. Now, the final vote put Lemieux/Bourne into the final, which meant Richer/Dubreuil and Simpson/Sale would take part in the skate off. However, the judges decided that all three remaining couples would skate in next week's final, rather than have a skate off that would pit rehersal tape against a live performance.
Definitley a good call by the judges. Marie-France told Kurt Browning she will be alright for next week.
So, for the BOTB Championship next week, it will be...
- Shae-Lynn Bourne and Claude Lemieux
- Marie-France Dubreuil and Stephane Richer
- Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson.
Personally, I'm rooting for Claude and Shae-Lyn, although the two other couples are really good as well. Who do you like?

After watching Katerina's "Performance" on Sunday, I had a sudden urge to download Kraftwerk. I wonder if there's a correlation.
[Launy Schwartz 2009-11-08 18:25:19]:
Good show tonight. Richer surpassed Simpson this evening, so we'll just have to see how the public votes.
As for Claude, well he's been amazing for the whole show. It's just a big toss up now.
Now Katerina Witt's has been renamed something that rhymes with her last name. That outfit was ummm...and her comments? She said she got hot n wet on national television. Those crazy Germans.

Claude Lemieux has offically cemented his legacy. Not only does he perform two smooth routines, but he also provided the vocals for one of the songs he and Shae-Lyn skated to. And I'm not talking about any random song. I'm talking about Halllujah by Leonard Cohen - the cream of the crop.
Hats off to Craig Simpson. The man is amazing. Of course, the Austin Powers costume is still giving me nightmares, but what can you do. Stephane Richer also pefromed well. He had every single lady eating out of his hand.
This is tough, but if I had to guess who's going home, it would be Richer and Marie-France. Since the first week, I've felt Claude and Craig were going to be in the finals.
Also have to give full marks to guest-judge Katarina Witt. Her suggestive comments pretty much killed Battle's family rating!

Christine Hough-Sweeney and Tie Domi have been eliminated. Nothing against Tie and Tuffy, but they had to go. Domi was entertaining, but there was a clear difference between him and the remaining couples.
Now we're getting down to the nitty-gritty. You can expect the three couples to step it up next week. And for the record, Craig Simpson's Austin Powers costume will probably give me nightmares.
Here's who's left: Shae-Lynn Bourne and Claude Lemieux, Marie-France Dubreuil and Stephane Richer, Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson. |

I must say I've had fun watching this. Richer and Lemieux have been amazing as Simpson is a surprise.
Kenny D going...well, he had no personality so no shock there. Looking forward to the rest. |

Ken Daneyko and Jodeyne Higgins have been eliminated. No surprise here. Ken was a little stiff never loosened up. He's a good guy though; a real jolly fellow.
We're really getting down to the nitty-gritty, sepearting the contenders from those who are taking part for the fun of it.
Here's who's left: Shae-Lynn Bourne and Claude Lemieux, Marie-France Dubreuil and Stephane Richer, Christine Hough-Sweeney and Tie Domi, Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson.

Wow! Outstanding performances from the Oct.25 performance show. It was RnB night and by far, it was the best show so far. Here's my top 3:
1. Simpson/Sale 2. Lemieux/Bourne 3. Richer/Dubreuil
Apparently, Criag Simpson and Jamie Sale had very little time to prepare this week. Simpson's back was also bothering him this week. However, the two pulled off an awesome skate. Craig performed a waltz jump. making him to the hockey player in the compeition to pull off any kind of jump.
Claude Lemieux continues to be very entertaining (holding his partner up with ONE HAND) and Richer did another double-shoulder press. Domi and Hough-Sweeney were also pretty good, but I think they'll be in the bottom two on Monday.

Ron Duguay and Barbara Underhill have been eliminated. A little bit surprising since I felt they were slightly better than Daneyko and Higgins. I really thought Daneyko & Higgins would be in the bottom two, but it looks like they got a lot of sympathy votes.
For the record, I agree with Strombo. Tie Domi salsa dancing is scarring.
Here's who's left: Shae-Lynn Bourne and Claude Lemieux, Marie-France Dubreuil and Stephane Richer, Jodeyne Higgins and Ken Daneyko, Christine Hough-Sweeney and Tie Domi, Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson.

LAST NIGHT 1. Lemieux/Bourne 2. Richer/Dubreuil 3. Simpson/Sale
for the final I originally predicted: 1. Lemieux/Bourne 2. Simpson/Sale 3. Richer/Dubreuil
but now I think Richer could be #2 and Simpson #3... Simpson is great on technique but really lacks charisma and performance... Richer is just getting better and better every time I see him. Love him!
Ken is gone. Tie was pretty bad last night though.
Still, the way Richer keeps his eyes on his partner... It's like she's the puck. And a double press?! So good. |

This week's show featured some latin fever. Here's my top 3 performances from tonight:
1. Simpson/Sale
2. Lemieux/Bourne
3. Richer/Dubreuil
Tie Domi also stepped it up this week. Speaking of Tie, they showed some girl in the audience wearing a Newmarket Saints jersey!
If had to pick who'll be sent home, it would be Ken Danekyo. He was good, but everyone was better. Ken has some sick strength. Every time he tosses his partner, I feel like she's going to land in the greys.
Who's your top 3? |

Gotta confess...this is becoming something fun to watch. Some great skating by the boys, and of all players Lemieux has embraced it the most.

Glenn Anderson and Isabel Brasseur have been knocked out. No surprise here. Poor Glenn stumbled a bit and that cost him. But he got back up and kept going. To be honest, Glenn no chance against the sauveness emanating from Stephane Richer. The man took a sip from his martini and then put on a show.
Here's who's left: Shae-Lynn Bourne and Claude Lemieux, Marie-France Dubreuil and Stephane Richer, Jodeyne Higgins and Ken Daneyko, Christine Hough-Sweeney and Tie Domi, Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson, and Barbara Underhill and Ron Duguay.
